Yesterday marked the end of the annual Southwest Food Drive. The collection period lasted over the past two weeks, and all of the food was donated to Lincoln Food Bank for their Frighting Hunger Drive. In this drive all of the LPS schools come together and compete to see which school is able to collect the most amount of food (in pounds) through the month of October. Throughout this time, Southwest collaborated with Scott Middle School and together we were able to collect 1,567 pounds of food, enough that the Food Bank volunteers had to bring out extra crates to fit everything. These donations will be sorted through by the volunteers and then distributed throughout Lincoln to varying food panties. So far we are the only school that has turned in donations, so thank you to all those who donated and helped to kick off an amazing cause with some amazing donations.
